Aaftab Esmail is a transactional real estate attorney and a founding partner in Bocarsly Emden Cowan Esmail & Arndt LLP. His practice focuses on the acquisition, financing, syndication, development, construction, leasing and disposition of a wide variety of real estate projects. He has extensive experience in the formation of investment and equity entities, and in the structuring of complex multi-owner property arrangements. In addition, Mr. Esmail represents both landlords and tenants in the development and leasing of retail and mixed use projects. He also has extensive experience in the acquisition, financing and disposition of a variety of retail and other establishments throughout the United States.

Mr. Esmail has handled the acquisition, financing, development and leasing of multi-family properties, industrial parks, shopping centers and office buildings throughout the United States. He has also represented landlords and national tenants in the leasing of shopping centers, office buildings, industrial parks and telecommunication buildings. Mr. Esmail has also represented clients in the acquisition, financing and disposition of sport franchises and national and regional chains of supermarkets, convenience stores, gas stations and auto parts stores.

Mr. Esmail was named one of the “Best Lawyers in America” in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 through an exhaustive review survey in which thousands of the top lawyers in the U.S. confidentially evaluated their professional peers. In addition, Mr. Esmail was recognized by the Los Angeles Times in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 as one of the Best Lawyers in the Los Angeles Area.

Mr. Esmail received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1983 and his Juris Doctorate degree in 1986 from Harvard Law School. He is a member of the California Bar Association and the Los Angeles County Bar Association. Mr. Esmail is also a member of the Board of Directors of the International Social Development and Sports Foundation, a non-profit organization.
